Hear it in the open air.
On the second day of Rosh Hashanah we take the shofar outside to the Oval, so the whole neighborhood can hear it.
Date
Sunday, Sept. 13
Time

Where
Stuyvesant Town Oval
Why Sunday
Rosh Hashanah day one falls on Shabbat this year, so the shofar waits for day two.
We gather on the lawn at four thirty for the sounding. It takes only a few minutes, and anyone passing through the Oval is welcome to stop and listen.
Later that evening
6:00 pm — Tashlich and outdoor shofar blowing at the East River at 20th Street.
Services run through both holidays, with a children’s program alongside every morning.
